On the Night You Were Born

"On the night you were born,
the moon smiled with such wonder
that the stars peeked in to see you
 and the night wind whispered,
'Life will never be the same'

Because there had never been anyone like you...
ever in the world.

For never before in story or rhyme
(not even once upon a time)
has the world ever known a you, my friend,
and it never will, not ever again..."
-Nancy Tillman

"On the Night You Were Born" is a great children's book that reminds children and all else who read it, that they are a unique person. There will never be another person exactly like them. In Doctrine & Covenants 18:10 Christ tells us to, "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God". Even just one soul is extremely precious.

To my friends, and strangers who happen upon this humble blog, I want you to know that you are special to me and to your Heavenly Father. Not all of my close friends are members of my same church, some are Christian, some are atheist, and some just don't know what they are. To all of them, I ask, no, I plead with you to remember who you are. Because who you are is someone amazing. Who you are is an heir to the universe, to worlds without number, or end. You are the children of the great being who created our planet and the universe around it.

You are Children of God. I know, I know. The atheists reading this are shaking their heads in disbelief. To those atheists I direct my next comments. You believe that you cannot believe in something you cannot see. If it can't be scientifically proven it doesn't exist. If such is true then I submit that Egypt does not exist. I have never physically been to this so called Egypt. I have not seen these supposed pyramids for myself, so by your logic they do not exist.

Yet, they persist to exist regardless of whether or not I have seen them or accept their existence. Just as God does in fact exist regardless of whether you believe he does or not. God is an eternal truth. He does not pass away or simply cease to exist because man has evolved beyond deity. Man cannot evolve past that which is greatest above all things. I do not wish to preach and force all who read my post to suddenly believe in Christ and their divine nature and destiny. I do wish that when looking up at the stars at night, see past their basic nature as balls of light. See them instead, as beacons placed there for us by a loving Heavenly Father.

See them as a phenomena similar to that of a rainbow. A rainbow was given to Noah as a promise from God that He would never flood the earth again. See the stars as a promise that we will never be alone and that all that we may endure in this life will be for our path to perfection. So that we may one day dance among the stars with our eternal companions and children by our sides, and worlds at our fingertips.

  1. This may be a little ironic, but the exact argument that you used against atheists was the same argument I used on my parents and the financial aid board for reasons why I should travel and study abroad in Ireland/Europe. It worked.
